There are several modules associated with the application. To launch the student module, double-click on the "Student" file. This should bring you to a list of students.
Select your account
When the program launches you should see a list of student names, sorted by last name. If you do not see your name, you can also sort by supervisor by clicking on the column heading. Once you have found your name, click anywhere on the row. From here you MAY be asked for a password. If you are asked for a password, enter your password. Once you have entered your password, press the "Continue" button. NOTE: you will not see anything being entered, not even dots or asterisks as in some other programs. Also, you must press the "Continue" button. Pressing "Enter" will not work. Well... the "Enter" on the main keyboard will not work. The "Enter" on the number pad does. Oh, just use the mouse and click "Continue". :)
You will now be able to view your full record. You will see your information, be able to change your password, or select a test to take.
Select test - why some eligible and some not
Your Trainer has selected which tests you are eligible to take and which you are not. You can only take a test you are eligible to take. Once you take a test, you are generally not eligible to take it again.
What type questions are there on a test
There are three types of questions you may see: Multiple Choice, True / False, and Short Answer. For the Multiple Choice and True / False questions, click on the dot next to the correct answer. For Short Answer questions, there will be a field for you to type your response. When you are done with a question click the "Next" button to go to the next question.
How view pictures
Some questions may have additional information with them. If they do, you will see a thumbnail of the picture and the text "Click Picture to Enlarge". There may also be text, sounds, or other files instead of a picture.
How to Zoom the screen
The application is designed for a screen set to 1024 X 768. Some people may find this hard to see. If you find that the text is too small to comfortably read, click the "Zoom In" button to enlarge the text. You will have to scroll to see some of the information, but the full text of the question will always be visible. Use the "Zoom Out" button to return to the default size.
Next, Prev: Keyboard shortcuts
Most people use the mouse to go to previous and next questions. Some people, however, prefer to not use the mouse.
Prev = Control-2
Next = Control-3
What's with the list on the right?
On the right hand of the screen there is a list of questions. You can use this list to jump to any question on the test. Additionally, there can be up to three marks next to any one question:
black dot - this is the question you are currently on
blue dot - this question has NOT been completed
red check box - you can use this check box to mark a question you want to return to. This way you can give your best guess for now, then come back if you have time at the end of the test time.
Tell if test is timed, and, if so, what happens when time is out?
At the bottom left of the screen there is a box with information about the time for the test. If the test is not timed, the "You have until" field will read "Not timed". If there is a time there, that is how long you have. Once the time runs out, trying to move to any other question will stop the test.
